FIFA has announced that Ecuador will participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after rejecting the complaint submitted by Chile, claiming that player Byron Castillo’s nationality was forged, and that he was not qualified to participate with Ecuador in the South American qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.
FIFA explained that this decision was issued today, Friday, but it is subject to a final appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
It is noteworthy that Ecuador is in Group A of the 2022 World Cup alongside Qatar, Netherlands and Senegal, and will play the opening match against Qatar on November 20.
