FIFA World Cup: Asians lead the way to become volunteers

Doha: More than 500,000 people have registered for FIFA’s volunteer program. The FIFA Volunteer Program was revamped in December 2020. Fifa’s global volunteer platform has seen a significant increase in the number of people registered since October 2021.

The number of volunteers has increased from 1 lakh to 5 lakh. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the increase in the number of volunteers reflects the fact that FIFA’s volunteer program is becoming a truly global community and the great interest in participating in the FIFA World Cup Qatar.

43.2 percent of those who registered to be volunteers were from Asia and 40.2 percent from Africa. 94.4 percent of the applicants are English speaking. 53.1 percent are employees. 34.4 percent are students. 42.9 percent of the total applicants are between 24 and 34 years of age. 36 percent are between the ages of 18 and 24. Those between the ages of 35 and 44 accounted for 15.6 percent and those over 45 accounted for 5.5 percent.

Interviews and more for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Volunteer Program, the largest volunteer program in Qatar’s history, are underway. The application deadline is tomorrow. The interviews will be completed by August 13. FIFA will select 20,000 volunteers for the Qatar World Cup.

Those who have passed the interview have started receiving confirmation of selection and offer letters including the area of ​​work and the date of commencement of work. Those above 18 years of age are eligible to become volunteers.
