Fights in Visé in the middle of the night: the police are surrounded by around fifty individuals

Five people were arrested in Visé (province of Liège) after several brawls and an altercation with the police during the night from Friday to Saturday, said the Basse-Meuse police zone, confirming information from Sudinfo.

Shortly before 1 a.m., a fight broke out outside a marquee hosting the festivities. While the protagonists were dispersed, the police officers continued their patrols in order to avoid any tension.

Around 2 a.m., a new fight broke out between several individuals and the seven police officers present were surrounded by around fifty people as they tried to calm them down. The police zone specifies that it has received reinforcements from several other zones such as Beyne/Fléron/Soumagne, Herstal, Ans/Saint-Nicolas, Secova and Verviers. Reinforcements having made it possible to control the situation although several vehicles were degraded by throwing cobblestones as well as glass bottles, in particular. Five people, four adults and a minor, were also arrested by the police.

Suspects aged 17 to 31 who were interviewed on Saturday before being released. The local police zone adds that two citizens were also slightly injured during one of the fights between groups. One victim suffers a bruise on the cheek while the second is injured in the arm.
