American figure skater Timothy Leduc will be the first open non-binary athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics. Together with Ashley Kane-Gribble, they became the US Champions in January and qualified for the Beijing Games.
In 2019, Leduc became the first openly gay man to win the U.S. Championship in a pairing competition. Last year, the skater announced his non-binary gender identity, meaning he does not categorize himself as “male” or “female.”
