Ecuador and Uruguay qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, to join Brazil and Argentina, who have qualified for the South American qualifiers.

Uruguay crossed to the World Cup by defeating Peru with a goal by Georgian de Arscaeta in the 42nd minute, to be the third win in a row after four consecutive defeats in the current qualifiers.
