Vienna (OTS) – In 2023, the two cooperation partners realized a lottery day for the “Film Prize on Tour” for the second time, which made Austria’s award-winning films accessible free of charge in all nine federal states.
What makes good art funding projects? The independent economic committee “Initiatives for Business for Art” has been investigating this question since 1989 and awards the “Maecenas” prize for art sponsorship every year. The prize is awarded in cooperation with the ORF in three categories, including “Austrian cultural providers for successful engagements in cooperation with business”.
The Academy of Austrian Film has submitted the “Film Prize on Tour” project in this category. The Academy and the Austrian Lotteries started their sponsorship partnership in 2022, and Lotteries Day celebrated its premiere with the “Film Prize on Tour” in the fall of the same year. As a premium partner, the Austrian Lotteries make it possible to watch excellent Austrian films with free entry upon presentation of any lottery product. In 2022 and 2023, the Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film and Best Short Film, which won the Austrian Film Prize, were shown in selected cinemas in all nine federal states. And cinema enthusiasts between Burgenland and Vorarlberg will also have the opportunity to do this in 2024.
The “Film Prize on Tour” lottery day is the implementation of a long-held wish of the Academy of Austrian Film: to bring the film prize to the federal states and to give the award-winning Austrian films as much public attention as possible. The jury based its decision on the positive response that the “Film Prize on Tour” had already received at its premiere in 2022 and highlighted the good exchange between the Academy and its premium partner Austrian Lotteries:
“Projects, ideas and initiatives are negotiated together so that the sponsor is also involved in the development steps and content of the projects.”
Erwin van Lambaart, General Director of the Austrian Lotteries, is also happy: “As a premium partner of the Academy of Austrian Film, we support Austrian filmmakers in getting the recognition they deserve. I am extremely pleased about the Maecenas, it is a wonderful confirmation of the shared success story of the Filmpreis on Tour, which we will continue this year.”
The “Film Prize on Tour” is an important piece of the mosaic in the lottery tag concept. Since 2008, the Austrian Lotteries have been successfully pursuing the goal of making important cultural institutions and leisure facilities – museums, theaters, zoos – accessible to everyone. Enabling participation in art and culture regardless of financial situation is an expression of social responsibility for the company.
