Actually, director Ulrich Seidl should have received the Douglas Sirk Prize at the Hamburg Film Festival, which starts at the end of September. For almost 30 years, this has been awarded to personalities who have made a special contribution to film culture and the film industry. However, after the allegations of violations of children’s rights during the shooting of Seidl’s latest film “Sparta”, the festival is refraining from doing so.
