At Ford they don’t want to leave any nooks unfilled, whether it’s SUVs, SUVs, and pickup trucks. That’s what the latest leak from its tests reveals, which shows that the next Ford Ranger Raptor is on the way to production by leaps and bounds. The pick-up sports car that will debut in 2022 in the US, was seen in the company of another long-awaited model: the Ford Bronco Raptor (or maybe it’s called the Warthog).

At the moment, the photos leaked by the Motor Authority site They show a curiously right-hand drive prototype and, despite the fact that Ford covered it with great stealth, the great legend ‘FORD’ on the front is also visible, a hallmark of the current F-150 Raptor and Ranger Raptor (debuted in July 2020 in Chile). The tires of this beast that will be the first Ranger Raptor marketed in North America, are a BF Goodrich All-Terrain T / A KO2.

Another detail is given by a double exhaust outlets (one tube per side), although the most significant change will be the one that the new Ford Ranger Raptor will have under the hood. And of course, although this more exalted Ranger and signed by the Ford Performance division will retain the 2.0-liter biturbo diesel engine of 213 horses (and 500 Nm from 1,750 rpm), there will also be two additional options: the first a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel -offered in the US in the diesel F-150- and a gasoline 2.7-liter V6 with turbo. The first offers a power of 250 Hp and 600 Nm, while the V6 petrol engine yields 325 Hp and 542 Nm. No gasoline block is as labor intensive as a diesel one …

And the transmissions? Basically the same 10-speed automatic of the current Ranger Raptor that comes to our country with Thai origin. At MT Motores we tested it in December (ver Test Drive).

Let’s wait for the new Raptor in medium size …
