Liet 2026 has officially unveiled its six competing musical acts—Lotte & De Rijpkema’s, De Weach, Mosken, Haitze, Fegebart, and Lill Pier—during a launch event at Muzykkafee in Wytgaard, kicking off an intensive professional coaching trajectory that culminates in a vinyl album release at the Neushoorn grand finale on November 12.
The Bottom Line
- The Competition: Six acts comprising twenty musicians were selected to compete for the title of Liet fan Fryslân 2026.
- The Coaching: Participants undergo a three-day professional development program covering vocal technique, Frisian lyricism, and media presentation.
- The Milestone: For the first time ever, all finaleliedjes will be released on a vinyl album.
A New Strategic Direction for Frisian Language Music
Liet 2026 is introducing a new style and a new impulse. By involving twenty musicians in a professional coaching trajectory over the coming months, the initiative supports them in developing their own compositions.
The selection process narrowed down the field to six distinct acts: Lotte & De Rijpkema’s, De Weach, Mosken, Haitze, Fegebart, and Lill Pier. Organizers have structured a training curriculum addressing areas including audio arrangement and media presentation.
Inside the Professional Coaching Infrastructure
Liet 2026 has assembled a specialist team to guide the twenty participating musicians. The mentorship lineup features Janneke Brakels for stemtraining and zangtechniek, Wiebe Kaspers for liedteksten and the Frisian language, Darshan Boerema of Yung Frysk for content and mediapresentatie, and Bonne van der Wal for opnametechniek and arrangement-weergave.
The coaching trajectory consists of three intensive days, with the first having taken place in Wytgaard. Beyond crafting original compositions, each act faces the challenge of making a personal Frisian adaptation of a number from the world repertoire that has been of special significance to them. Both these adaptations and the original compositions are to be heard during the finale in Neushoorn.
Transparent Media Integration and Vinyl Permanence
Liet is working with Yung Frysk—the language promotion project of Afûk and Omrop Fryslân—and the television training program of Firda to follow the development process with cameras. The footage is published online via the channels of Yung Frysk and LIET, and also receives a place in the Omrop Fryslân program Noardewyn.
