An overnight fire broke out at a WB Electronics facility in Skarżysko-Kamienna, Poland, prompting an arson investigation and the deployment of the country’s Internal Security Agency to examine potential sabotage. The blaze struck the assembly department shortly after midnight while the building was closed and empty, resulting in no reported injuries before firefighters brought the flames under control.
Emergency Response and Investigation at the Drone Parts Plant
The fire at the south-central Poland manufacturing site ignited just after midnight in the plant’s assembly section, according to reports from Polish Radio, TVP Info, and the Polish Press Agency. The facility specializes in manufacturing composite structures, control systems, and pumps for drones and unmanned ground vehicles.

“It wasn’t large; the operation lasted less than two hours,” said Rafał Maciejczak, a State Fire Service spokesman, detailing how emergency crews disconnected electricity, extinguished the flames, and cleared smoke from the structure. Maciejczak added that specialized detectors were deployed at the scene to rule out the presence of hazardous materials.
Local police took over the site investigation from firefighters, utilizing a drone equipped with a thermal camera to inspect the wreckage. Police spokeswoman Anna Sławińska stated that investigators are examining the cause of the blaze and have not ruled out arson.
Involvement of Special Services and National Security Stakes
The Internal Security Agency (ABW) dispatched officers to the manufacturing plant to determine if foul play was involved. Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the government’s special services coordinator, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified claims regarding how the fire started.
“Naturalną rzeczą jest, że tego typu zdarzenia są w zainteresowaniu służb specjalnych,” Dobrzyński said, noting that special services naturally monitor such incidents. He added that officers are continuously gathering and analyzing information “pod kątem ewentualnej dywersji,” or under the angle of potential diversion or sabotage, while noting that specific operational details remain confidential.
The incident at Skarżysko-Kamienna places WB Electronics—Poland’s largest private arms manufacturer, which supplies reconnaissance and kamikaze unmanned aerial systems to Ukraine’s armed forces—among a growing list of European defense manufacturing sites impacted by fires, explosions, and suspected sabotage.
