Around 50 volunteer firefighters from the city of Salzburg practiced setting up flood protection along the Salzach together with the professional fire brigade on Thursday evening.
With mobile elements, crossings of streets, bike paths and footpaths can be closed by the dams. The plug-in elements are stored close to where they are used. In an emergency, these must be installed by the fire brigade. The construction of the 44 barriers is practiced regularly.
