The Fire Service was alerted after a fire broke out in a forest area in the Korytiani area of Thesprotia. The fire, which broke out under unclear circumstances, has mobilized significant forces of the Fire Brigade and the Local Government.
Specifically, 28 firefighters with the assistance of a group of hikers from the 5th Special Unit of Forestry Operations (E.MO.DE.), as well as 10 vehicles of the Fire Service, participate in the extinguishing operation. Also, a helicopter (E/P) has been mobilized which is continuously dropping water from the air, trying to limit the spread of the fire.
The firefighting operation is supported by water tankers and work machines of the Local Government, which contribute to the creation of fire zones and the safe access of firefighters to the places affected by the flames.
