SKELUND:Nordjylland emergency services succeeded on Monday evening in putting out the flames from a fire in a kitchen in a house in Skelund, before the fire seriously took hold of the rest of the house. That’s what project leader Caspar Weisberg tells us.
The report was of a fire in a hood, but when the firefighters arrived it was developing.
– It was little more than the hood. Things were going well in the kitchen, some upper cabinets were also smoked, and there was a beginning of burning through the floor separation, which fortunately had not managed to go all the way through, says Caspar Weisberg.
However, the firefighters quickly got the fire under control, so the actual fire damage was limited to the kitchen, while the rest of the house suffered water and smoke damage.
All the residents of the house came out of the house, and some helpers who tried to put out the fire themselves before the emergency services arrived, also came out. They were all looked after by the staff from an ambulance called to the scene, to be checked for smoke in the lungs.
At around 19:30 the firemen had finished extinguishing the fire. However, firefighters were still searching the floor separation above the kitchen with a thermal camera to make sure there were no hidden embers that could cause the fire to flare up again.
