The Luanda provincial command of the Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB) recorded, in the last 24 hours, a total of 17 incidents, including five fires, in which the affected sectors were transport and housing. Among the presumed causes is a short circuit, according to the spokesperson for the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Luanda, Maina Panzo.

In the last 24 hours of this month, several problems were recorded that, in a timely manner, required the intervention of firefighters, namely five cases of fire, in the municipalities of Viana (1), Cazenga (1) Kilamba Kiaxi (1) and Talatona ( two).

According to the SPCB spokesperson in Luanda, Maiana Panzo, following the survey carried out, the results pointed to the transport and housing sectors as the most affected, with short circuits as the presumed causes. In the same period, SPCB officers rescued two bodies, unlocked doors four times, noted two incidents of road accidents — one with a trapped victim — as well as carrying out labor.

The person in charge also made it known that, regarding the relief services carried out, there were a total of 16 services, including five fire extinguishing, four unlocking doors, two rescuing bodies and five evacuations. Regarding pre-hospital services and medical evacuations, a total of five evacuations were recorded, in the municipalities of Viana and Talatona, with one case each, Luanda with two and Belas with one.

“In the last 24 hours, in Luanda, we had a total of 17 incidents, which merited our intervention, including five fires presumably caused by a short circuit,” he said. Maina Panzo advises motorists not to ignore the fact that they always carry a fire extinguisher in their vehicles, in order to respond in case of fires. On the other hand, he also clarified that, last Friday, January 5th, there were fifteen incidents, including three fires, with the housing and commercial sectors being the most affected, also due to presumed negligence and short circuits.
