O first Brazilian short film with use of Artificial intelligence It was presented. The production was made by the director and screenwriter from Rio de Janeiro Diogo Viannawhich began by asking the ChatGPT to create a monologue for the existence of the AI, giving an opportunity for the algorithm to defend itself from controversial discussions about it.
After receiving the result, Vianna took care of the rest of the details of the short and released it on her YouTube channel. With the title “Eu Existo” other tools of the category were also used to complement the work, generating images, animations and voices for the final product.
The fact that the video has narration in English and not in Portuguese was done intentionally. According to the director, it was a solution chosen by him to increase the accuracy of the video’s voiceover. Furthermore, he claims that even though technology is advancing rapidly, it still fails to show natural and realistic results to human eyes.
He also took the opportunity to say that generative AI will take some time to be as accurate as a person. In that sense, he even did several tests so that he could arrive at something minimally acceptable. Finally, he also commented on his experience with this type of production:
It is extremely less pleasant and assertive to work with these tools than with people. I find this very difficult to overcome, the precision of what I want to ask only someone else can achieve, and much faster than the machine (incredible as it may seem)
