The first case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Russia, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported.

The infection was detected in a young man who returned from a trip to Europe and went to a medical facility with a characteristic rash. The patient is currently isolated and in the hospital. The disease proceeds in a mild form.

According to sanitary doctors, the circle of contact persons of the patient has been established and doctors are monitoring them.
