A kiss from US First Lady Jill Biden shortly before her husband’s speech state of the nation on Tuesday evening in Washington caused a stir on the internet. Because the kiss was not for US President Joe Biden, who had already positioned himself at the lectern, but for Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris.
As a greeting, the first lady and second gentleman kissed in the auditorium of the US House of Representatives – as TV pictures suggested: on the mouth! It was initially unclear whether the optics were due to the camera setting or whether the kiss actually landed on the mouth. However, the clip of the scene spread rapidly on the internet – and immediately became the subject of wild speculation.
