First monkeypox cases confirmed in NRW – news

So far there have been three confirmed cases of monkeypox in Cologne. The city announced on Tuesday. The disease was diagnosed in three men between the ages of 36 and 45. There is another reasonable suspicion in a 57-year-old man. All people are showing symptoms and are in isolation at home.

According to experts, the symptoms are similar to those of smallpox. These include a rash on the face, palms, or soles, scabs, fever, muscle pain, and chills. Without close physical contact, experts assume a low risk of transmission. According to the current findings of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a risk to the health of the general population in Germany is considered to be low.
