First Omoda and Jaecoo Car Showroom Opens in Riga, Baltics

Chinese automotive brands Omoda and Jaecoo officially opened their first joint showroom in the Baltic states. Located inside the Mūsa Mežciems facilities at Biķernieku iela 145 in Riga, Latvia, the dedicated retail space represents a 1.1 million euro investment aimed at accelerating regional market penetration.

The Bottom Line

  • Capital Outlay: The new Riga showroom represents a 1.1 million euro investment.
  • Broader Financing: The expansion is backed by 8 million euros in financing secured for vehicle imports and working capital.
  • European Trajectory: Parent operations registered 124,300 new vehicles across Europe during the first half of 2026, marking a 246 % increase through early spring.

Capital Allocation and Regional Strategy

The launch of the Riga storefront marks a pivot for the brands within the Baltic perimeter. Funded through a 1.1 million euro investment, the showroom is situated within the Mūsa Mežciems infrastructure, with the company becoming the official dealer for the brands in Latvia. To support the brands’ positions in the Baltic market and ensure further development, 8 million euros in financing has been secured, which is intended for vehicle imports and working capital.

Hao Dzje, Baltic region director for Omoda and Jaecoo, emphasized Riga’s role as the place from which this development begins during the opening ceremony. “Latvijā paveiktais ir ļoti labs pamats turpmākai izaugsmei,” Dzje stated.

Macroeconomic Alignment and Trade Diplomacy

The opening ceremony drew diplomatic representation. Liu Ancji, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Latvia, indicated that Latvia holds an important place in the development of Chinese companies in the Baltic region. According to Ancji, Latvia is an important partner and a natural center of the Baltic region from which it is possible to continue development in other Baltic states.

Ģirts Zemītis, brand manager for Omoda and Jaecoo, pointed to consumer uptake as the primary driver behind the physical buildout. “Cilvēki aktīvi interesējas par automobiļiem, piesakās testa braucieniem un novērtē dizainu, kvalitāti, komfortu un tehnoloģijas,” Zemītis noted.

Financial Metrics and European Growth Trajectory

While the €1.1 million Riga investment anchors local operations, the broader European growth curve provides context. In the first half of 2026, 124,300 new vehicles of both brands were registered in Europe, and sales volumes had increased by 246 % by spring compared to the previous year.
