| First win for Zimbabwe in Australia

Townsville: Zimbabwe won by seven wickets in the third and final match of the ODI cricket series against Australia. Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 141 runs. Batting back, Zimbabwe scored the winning run in the 40th over.

This is the first time Zimbabwe have won a match in Australia. Zimbabwe have lost 12 ODIs and two Tests so far. Although they won the ODI series 2-1, the loss in the last match dampened the Aussies’ complexion. Three-quarters of the Aussies’ score was contributed by veteran opener David Warner. Warner scored 94 runs off 96 balls including two sixes and 14 fours and was the top scorer in the match. Apart from Warner, only Glenn Maxwell (19 off 22 balls) crossed the double figure. Skipper and opener Aaron Finch (five), former skipper Steve Smith (one), Ashton Agar (0) and Josh Hazlewood (0) were all bowled. Ryan Ball (3-0-10-5), who had the best performance of his career, destroyed the Aussies. Bull was the man of the match with three catches.

Brad Evans took two wickets and Richard Ngarawe, Victor Nyayuchi and Sean Williams took one wicket each. The captain and wicketkeeper Regis Chakabwa (37 not out from 72 balls) and opener Tadivanshe Marumani (35 from 47 balls) led Zimbabwe to victory, which was 77 runs for five. Josh Hazlewood shone with three wickets for the Aussies. Australia’s leg-spinner Adam Zampa is the star of the series.
