Last night, a fire ravaged a house in Ville-sur-Haine, in the town of Roeulx in Hainaut. The human toll is heavy, five people lost their lives. The victims are from the same family according to Benoit Friard, the mayor of Roeulx. “It’s regarding the grandparents, the daughter and the son-in-law, and the 22-year-old grandson. It’s absolutely terrible, I think we’ve never experienced that in our entity”.
The ground floor was already completely destroyed when the firefighters arrived around midnight. They quickly came to the end of the flames thanks to the reinforcement of their colleague from Mons.
The causes of the fire are for the moment unknown, the prosecution descended on the spot, confirmed the mayor. “We are awaiting the conclusions of his investigations, we will probably know more during the day.”
