The cities of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Saint-Télesphore, Les Cèdres, Saint-Zotique and Rivière-Beaudette have joined three other municipalities to finance the purchase of a portable endoscopy console for the Hôpital du Suroît.

The Suroît Hospital Foundation announced the news via its official Facebook page. The smallest operating rooms at the Hôpital du Suroît can now count on this device which, according to the head of the hospital centre’s operating room, Luce Leboeuf, will reduce the hospitalization time for patients.

« Endoscopic surgeries are on the rise, because with the help of the camera and ultra-small and precise tools, surgeons’ interventions are minimally invasive. Patients have faster recovery and require fewer hospitalizations », Comments Luce Leboeuf.

Purchased at a cost of $82,999, this equipment will support the more than 1,500 surgeries performed annually by endoscopy at the regional hospital centre. This device was acquired thanks to a generous financial contribution from the municipalities mentioned above, but also from the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, and the municipalities of Sant-Louis-de-Gonzague and Huntingdon.
