Nîmes to the rhythm of flamenco

Highlight of the season of the Théâtre de Nîmes, the Flamenco Festival deploys, until January 22, at the theater and in various places of the city, the proposals of its 32e edition which started on January 13 – prevented in 2021 due to the health context. Originally a song and guitar competition, created in 1990 by Pepe Linares, a builder, singer and guitarist, who arrived in the Gard city from Andalusia in the late 1960s, the Flamenco Festival of Nîmes has become over its editions the one of the most renowned in France, with Arte Flamenco, in Mont-de-Marsan (Landes). This year again, it presents a program that strikes the right balance between tradition and audacity, designed in collaboration with Chema Blanco, the new director of the Seville Flamenco Biennial.

During the week, the Flamenco Ballet of Andalucía, dancers and choreographers Marco Vargas and Chloé Brûlé, the Chilean twin sisters Florencia O’Z (dance) and lsidora O’Ryan (cello, voice and dance) will perform, among others. , dancer Leonor Leal with percussionist Antonio Moreno. the sing jondo will radiate through the voice and overwhelming presence of Inés Bacán, one of the queens of Lebrija. The luminous singer Rocío Márquez will present, accompanied by guitarist Juan Antonio Súarez, her album Seen on Thursday, Victoires du Jazz 2020 (best world music album), before leaving the stage to the mixing duo sing and electro, RomeroMartin. The Sevillian dancer Ana Morales, then the guitarist Dani de Morón will close this edition. Patrick Labesse

An urban and itinerant festival in Roubaix

We Loft Music Festival, until January 30 in Roubaix (Nord), in different places.  Concert prices: from €3 to €15 depending on the artist.

Postponed to spring 2021 then finally cancelled, the 3e edition of the Roubaix festival We Loft Music is finally coming back to life in 2022. Organized by the concert hall La Cave aux Poètes, this urban and traveling festival offers, from January 15 to 30, a program of pop, rap, chanson, electro and folk in venues atypical of the city. Over three weekends, around ten events combining music and heritage in the heart of the metropolis, whether in the rococo salons of the Hôtel de Ville, the former Banque de France, the historic No -Place, or even the Protestant temple on rue des Arts which hosted Piers Faccini in 2020.
