MELBOURNE – After a video surfaced of passengers’ luggage being thrown away and handled, the staff lost their jobs. The video from Melbourne airport has been widely circulated on social media. In this shocking video, the staff can be seen carelessly throwing and overturning the luggage.
The video shows two employees pulling passengers’ luggage onto the conveyor belt. Some bags can also be seen falling off the belt when being pulled. A person throws luggage onto the belt with great force. He lifted the box with his head and threw it away. Then someone else laughs.
These are employees of Swasport who have been subcontracted to handle ground handling services at the airport. After the video went viral, the contract holders investigated and fired the duo. The airport authorities also informed that the other employees have been instructed once more how to handle the luggage.
