Floki Launches Global Crypto Debit Cards

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Floki Debuts Global Crypto Debit Cards, Expanding Utility Amid Valhalla Delays

Crypto enthusiasts can now spend their digital assets in the real world thanks to the launch of the Floki Debit Card. The innovative card allows users to make payments at any merchant that accepts Visa or Mastercard using their favorite cryptocurrencies.

“The Floki Debit Card is now available to the global community,” the project announced.

The physical debit card is initially available in 31 European countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, and Spain, with plans to expand to more regions in the future.

Meanwhile, virtual gift cards are accessible worldwide, offering users a convenient way to spend their crypto grüne globally. However, the card is unavailable in countries and jurisdictions sanctioned by OFAC.

Zero Fees and Multi-Chain Support

One of the key features of the Floki Debit Card is its commitment to zero transaction fees and zero percent exchange rate fees. This means users can make purchases without worrying about hidden charges eating into their crypto balance.

The card also boasts multi-chain support, initially offering compatibility with eight different blockchain networks. Users can top up their cards using the native Floki token (FLOKI) or other popular cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Tether (USDT), and USDC (USDC).

Cost-Effective Crypto Spending

The Floki Debit Card offers affordable access to the world of crypto spending. Users interested in the physical card will pay a one-time fee of €32 plus shipping costs. The virtual card comes at a lower price point, with a one-time fee of €10.

While there are no transaction fees, users will incur a 2% top-up fee when adding funds to their cards.

Expansion Beyond Meme Coin Status

The launch of the Floki Debit Card is part of the project’s broader strategy to transition from its origins as a meme coin to a comprehensive cryptocurrency ecosystem.

“In March this year, the Floki team revealed plans for debit cards, staking, and other services amid expansion efforts that targeted the project’s transition from meme coin to a top cryptocurrency ecosystem,” and the mission also includes the highly anticipated, but recently delayed launch of the metaverse blockchain game Valhalla.”

The flagship game, Valhalla, recently experienced a delay in its mainnet launch, pushed to the first quarter of 2025. Although the delay resulted in a dip in the native token’s price, the team pointed to security audit feedback as the driving factor, emphasizing their commitment to user safety.

“Delays to the first quarter of 2025 for Floki’s flagship utility project saw the native token’s price pare gains. However, the project noted the decision stemmed from security audit feedback and is key to ensuring user safety.”
