A water distribution pipe broke in the rue de l’Eglise, flooding the cellars of at least five businesses and a private home, also on the Place Henri Hallet.
A team from the Walloon Water Company (SWDE) intervened to assess the damage, locate and plug the leak.
The firefighters pumped out the cellars and cleaned the roads while municipal workers secured the place where the leak was discovered. Their intervention ended around 7:00 p.m.
An expert appointed by the rescue zone will go to the pizzeria located along the rue de l’Eglise on Tuesday, where the underground damage seems to be more significant, Hannut mayor Manu Douette told the Belga agency.
