Florian Gnägi reigns over Mt-Crosin

The Bernese Jura wrestling festival ended on Sunday in apotheosis between the wind turbines of Mt-Crosin. It was Florian Gnägi, from the Biel club, who won the competition in the final pass which pitted him against Matthias Aeschbacher, from Sumiswald, in front of a very large audience. This 94e wrestling party will be remembered. It also marked the 100th anniversary of the Association of wrestlers and gymnasts at the Bernese Jura nationals. Its president Reinhard Jossen was keen to mark the occasion by setting up substantial infrastructures, far from all amenities. Nothing would have been possible without the hard work of many volunteers, he welcomed at the time of the balance sheet.

The regionals distinguished themselves among the 150 registered wrestlers. Les Prés d’Orvin resident Matthias Burger, who fights for the Bienne club, won a crown. This is also the case of Tramelot and member of the Tavannes wrestling club Alex Schaer, very happy to have shone at home, in front of his audience:

This 94th Bernese Jura Wrestling Festival was also an opportunity for most to discover a sport. A sport which, like many others, has its specific rules and referees. Roland Binggeli, refereeing manager for the Bernese Jura, explains for example that each wrestler gets points at the end of a pass. Even if he loses. A way to also reward effort, technique or attitude on the sawdust circle.
