Florida basketball has won five of its last six games and is making a push toward its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021.

The Florida Gators (16-7, 6-4 SEC) will look to avoid a letdown when they cap a brief two-game homestand Tuesday night against LSU.

“Every game, even with our recent success, is super important to us,” Florida coach Todd Golden said. “I feel we have a lot we can build on over the past couple of weeks but one of the things that we’ve talked about before is just handling success and making sure that we come out tomorrow and we play with the same energy and enthusiasm.”

Life of Riley: Florida’s basketball team is rising. The X Factor that could really make things take off.

Second half strength: ‘Time to grow up’ UF basketball stays strong in second half to hold down No. 11 Auburn

Florida is coming off an 81-65 win over No. 12 Auburn on Saturday at the O’Connell Center to improve to 10-1 at home this season. The Gators got 63 points from their backcourt in the win, including a team-high 22 points from sophomore guard Riley Kugel, 20 points from guard Walter Clayton Jr. and 19 points and 3 assists from starting point guard Zyon Pullin.

Pullin (15.6 ppg, 5.0 apg) has scored in double figures in 20 straight games this season, becoming just the fifth UF basketball player to accomplish the feat since 1996-97. The list includes Anthony Roberson (29) Colin Castleton (24) Kenny Boynton (23) and Udonis Haslem (23).

LSU (12-11, 4-6 SEC) has been led by point guard Jalen Cook (15.9 ppg), who has been nursing a hamstring injury but returned to the court for LSU’s 109-92 loss to Alabama last Saturday. Cook finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Tigers are looking to break a two-game losing streak and have lost five of their last six games.

“LSU is really talented,” Golden said. “They have multiple guys who could hurt you. Jalen Cook can really score it, (7-foot center) Will Baker is a really tough cover at the five spot and then they have long, active wings who can make some shots.”
