Florida woman dies after falling into pond with alligators

An elderly woman died after falling into a pond with alligators in an incident at a englewood golf coursea town on the southwestern coast of the state of Florida (USA), according to local media on Saturday.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident, which occurred at the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club in Englewood, where the woman, an elderly woman whose age was not disclosed, died after falling into the pond where the alligators were.

According to a first version provided by the Sheriff’s Officewitnesses to the event saw how the old woman fell, in what appears to be an accident, into the pond located on the golf course, near her home.

The old woman tried to stay afloat, but two alligators grabbed him and submerged him in the water, causing his death.

The woman was declared deceased at the scene of the event by the health authorities who gave first aid.

The Florida State Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) responded to the call to catch the alligators in the pond and conduct an investigation.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified the elderly woman.

According to FWC data on human-alligator interaction, since 1948 there are more than 20 documented cases of deaths of people due to attacks by these reptiles in Florida.

That state has an alligator population that is currently estimated at 1.3 million animals of all sizes distributed for the 67 counties of that territory in the southeastern United States.

One of the most mediatic cases of alligator incidents is the one that occurred on June 14, 2016 at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa hotel complex in Orlando, owned by the company Disney.

A two-year-old boy identified as Lane Thomas was dragged into the water by an alligator when he was with his family on the shores of an artificial lake.
