The prosecutor’s office of the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg became interested in food poisoning produced by Green Box JSC and put Rospotrebnadzor’s investigation under control.

“Prosecutors will check compliance with the requirements of sanitary and epidemiological legislation in the activities of an organization providing nutrition services to the population,” the supervisory agency reported on September 9, adding that the result will be prosecutorial response measures.

Those poisoned have been counted since September 8; their number has doubled. Rospotrebnadzor is aware of 69 cases of acute intestinal infection. Most remain in hospitals, including children. At least one patient tested positive for Salmonella.

Those who find themselves in infectious diseases hospitals are united by food produced by Green Box, ordered through Samokat. The delivery service reported the day before that it had organized an internal investigation into storage and transportation conditions. Sales of the supplier’s products were suspended, and he himself was informed.

Green Box, whose activities, according to the decision of Rospotrebnadzor, should be paused from September 8, was in no hurry to react. The official comment from the group of companies appeared on Saturday afternoon. They are discouraged by the current situation – the first in seven years. Several batches of eggs were submitted for testing; those who fell ill, like Samokat, were promised help.
