On the program: varied dishes to (re)discover such as poutine, pizzas, generous sandwiches or even something sweet with ice cream, lacquemants… Nearly twenty food trucks gathered between the trees of the square renovated.

In addition to the taste pleasures, there are activities for the whole family with an inflatable castle posted at the entrance, a clown, tents and a relaxation area set up in the city center.

At the end of the afternoon, the DJs took turns starting with DJ LXA, resident of the festival. He turned up the sound and warmed up the place under the sun before leaving his decks to the others. We will also note the presence of DJ Keïla, Sunday from 4 p.m., “the Verviétoise surprise”, underline the organizers.
Well received
The Verviétois and others are there, many families rushed to the bouncy castle while letting themselves be tempted by the culinary discoveries. We see that sweet corn is very popular with young people with its intriguing shape and its thin, delicious slices.

“The portions are rather generous and it’s very good value for money. It’s a shame that the portions aren’t smaller, to allow us to taste more dishes,” smiles a festival goer. “It brings a little excitement to the city center, it’s nice, it changes a little for the city,” adds another.
La Verviétoise, the student association which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2023, is delighted to be part of this first edition. “We feel that Verviers is getting revitalized and we want to be part of it too. We hope that we will still be present at future editions,” says Chloé, interregional delegate of the committee.

A concept for the future?
In big cities, this new way of enjoying quality dishes is becoming more and more fashionable. “In my food truck, we really work with fresh products. I have flank steaks, shredded lamb…”, underlines the manager of Monkey Food, Adriano. Prices in establishments are increasing due to the cost of living and the food truck remains a quality alternative, he emphasizes.

Just like Mabelita Pizza, which favors quality with their pizza oven on a trailer to offer a certain standard “even at festivals”.

The Food Square Festival will continue until Sunday October 1st at Place Verte, entry is free and dishes vary on average between 7 euros and 15 euros. Please note that toilets are present on the site.
