“Life as a couple is a long road that is often riddled with pitfalls. Giving up is not part of my character, but this is where our paths separate,” writes Melanie de Cruz (30) on Instagram for a black and white picture of her in a wedding dress. In doing so, she announces the separation from footballer Anthony Martial (26).
They have been married since 2019, why they are now separating, they do not want to reveal. The most important thing now is the well-being of the four-year-old son Swan. A person close to the family told Daily Star Sunday: “They had their issues. Her announcement shocked her fans and is now the icing on the cake of Anthony’s poor past few months.”
However, the private crisis began in 2018 when “The Sun” published spicy messages that Martial sent to model Malika Semichi. Shortly thereafter, she made the affair public. At the time, his wife Melanie was eight months pregnant, but the couple stayed together.
Martial is a repeat offender
De Cruz is – or was – his second wife. By 2016, he was married to his childhood sweetheart Samantha Jacquelinet, whom he was also cheating on. First with former X Factor contestant Emily Wademan, later with de Cruz. In the meantime, Jacquelinet even denied the footballer access to their daughter Peyton.
So privately there is chaos. And football-wise, Anthony Martial has had to go through the bottom in recent months. At Manchester United, the Frenchman was discarded under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (49).
