Football corruption scandal and death of Reggie Moore mark the year – news

The sporting year 2023, with ups and downs, among other achievements, allowed the Palancas Negras to reach CAN 2024 and handball to improve its classification in the World Cup in old Europe

Statement 31 from the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) fell like a bombshell for lovers of the king’s sport, because it referred to the suspension of Petro de Luanda from all sporting activities, for two years, for alleged involvement in corruption schemes.

At issue was an audio in which the Petro de Luanda player, Ito, paid three million kwanzas to an athlete from Académica do Lobito to beat 1º de Agosto, in last season’s Angola Cup game.

Kabuscorp was punished with relegation to the second tier, also for corruption, during the qualification for Girabola, suspending president Bento Kangamba for four years.

In turn, coach Agostinho Tramagal was suspended from all sporting activity for four years, a measure that even when appealed by the FAF Jurisdictional Council did not enter into the picture.
