La Seleção ends its Asian tour with a victory. Against Japan this Monday afternoon in a friendly preparation match for the 2022 World Cup, Brazil won by the smallest of margins (0-1) on the lawn of the National Stadium in Tokyo. The only Auriverde achievement is to the credit of Neymar, from the penalty spot (77th).
Easy winner of South Korea last Thursday (1-5), Tite’s Brazil extended their winning streak in Asia by having difficulty with a weak team from Japan. Largely dominating in this meeting, the Brazilians nevertheless experienced all the trouble in the world to make the difference against a catchy formation if not to be very exciting.

Gonda has long postponed the deadline
Coming to the floor in this friendly match, Marquinhos’ teammates touched the Japanese post from the 1st minute of play on a nice cross shot from Paquetá. Clearly a step above their host of the day, the Auriverde continued to push, Raphinha also trying his hand at striking a few minutes later without experiencing more success (18th).
The Seleção has also long stumbled on the excellent Shuichi Gonda, the whimsical Neymar (26th, 42nd) failing twice to deceive the vigilance of the goalkeeper of the Japanese selection. Stopped a third time by the opposing goalkeeper as the last quarter of an hour approached (74th), the star player of PSG however achieved his goals thanks to the precious whistle of Mr. Faghani.
Guimarães almost committed the irreparable
Richarlison having obtained a penalty for a fault in the middle of the surface, Neymar, as against South Korea last Thursday, was responsible for transforming the sentence (0-1, 77th) by taking Gonda on the wrong foot. Scorer for the third time in two matches in this exercise, the Brazilian soloist thus offered a short, but precious success to his selection, the Seleção no longer managing, at the end, to create the slightest danger.
Largely harmless until then, the locals tried in vain to snatch the equalizer in the last minutes. Very active on his left side, the incoming Mitoma could even have benefited from a penalty (85th) on a borderline intervention by Bruno Guimarães, but the referee did not consider anything illegal on this one. Logically defeated on their lawn by a much better Brazilian team, the Japanese concede their first loss since October while the Seleção extend their harvest of victory before finding the Argentinian rival on Saturday, on the side of Melbourne.
