Norwegian international Mathias Normann will join Dynamo Moscow on loan. A decision that will deprive the midfielder of his place in the selection because of the war in Ukraine.
Normann (26) has been under contract since 2019 with the Russian club FC Rostov, but was loaned last season to the English Norwich, today relegated to the 2nd division. The new one-year loan agreement also contains a purchase option.
“To date, this is the best sporting opportunity I have and is therefore the one we have chosen.“, Normann had declared on Saturday to the TV2 channel, revealing that he was preparing to join a Russian club, then unidentified.
The president of the Norwegian Football Federation, Lise Klaveness, insisted on recalling why Norway was taking such measures: “Norwegian and European football are in unison to put common pressure on Russia, a belligerent party which has also used its position of power in the sport very actively.“
Norway are due to play their next game in Slovenia on September 24 in the Nations League before hosting Serbia on September 27.
