Hertha BSC celebrated a clear 3-0 home win against Hoffenheim in the first game under neocoach Felix Magath, who missed the game due to a CoV illness. The Berliners, who now hold 26 points like Augsburg (15th) and Stuttgart, thus advanced to the relegation place. With the win, Hertha pushed Bielefeld down to 17th place in the table. The Bielefeld conceded a 0: 4 rejection at Mainz. The game Greuther Fürth against Freiburg ended goalless.
Gregoritsch goal for Augsburg not enough
Five goals were scored in Stuttgart, where Augsburg took the lead in the sixth minute with a volley from Andre Hahn after a cross from Iago. The hosts equalized after a corner from Borna Sosa thanks to a header from Waldemar Anton (44′), but just a few seconds later Gregoritsch struck. The Styrian, who was substituted in the 73rd minute, was ideally served by Arne Maier and finished coldly with his seventh goal of the season. The Stuttgarters managed the celebrated turn in the finish. Omar Marmusch sank a free kick (79′), Tiago Tomas made it 3-2 (85′).
Records for Bayern in victory against Union
Bayern had no problems with the Berliners, who had to play without the ÖFB team player Christopher Trimmel, who tested positive for the corona virus. Kingsley Coman (16th), Tanguy Nianzou (25th) and Robert Lewandowski (45th/penalty, 47th) entered the shooter list. Lewandowski has now scored at least 30 goals for the fifth time in a league season, something only Gerd Müller had previously managed to do. Marcel Sabitzer came on as a substitute for Munich in the 61st minute.
Bayern completed their 1,935. Bundesliga match, making them the club with the most league games ahead of Werder Bremen (1,934). Goalie Manuel Neuer also set a new record. For the 35-year-old it was the 311th victory in Germany’s top division. He surpassed Oliver Kahn. The former team goalkeeper and current CEO of the German record champions had celebrated 310 victories in his career in the Bundesliga. Now Neuer is the sole record winner.
Hertha succeeds in liberating
Hertha managed a liberation. The Berliners won at home against the sixth Hoffenheim 3-0. The goals were scored by Niklas Stark (39′), Ishak Belfodil (63′) and Lucas Tousart (74′) from free-kicks. Florian Grillitsch was absent from TSG because of a positive CoV test, Christoph Baumgartner was replaced in the 88th minute, Stefan Posch played through.
Mainz moved up to ninth place thanks to goals from Jonathan Burkardt (1st, 75th/penalty), Moussa Niakhate (65th/penalty) and Marcus Ingvartsen (79th/penalty). Karim Onisiwo played through for the winners, Kevin Stöger came on in the 81st minute. At Bielefeld Patrick Wimmer and Alessandro Schöpf were in action over the entire distance. Manuel Prietl came on at half-time and was responsible for the first and third penalties.
There was excitement in that game in the 15th minute when doubts arose about goal-line technology. When Niakhate supposedly scored, referee Felix Zwayer received the signal for the goal via his radio clock with a delay – but Bielefeld’s goalie Stefan Ortega had saved the ball on the line. After the video assistants intervened, Zwayer watched the scene again from the sidelines and changed his decision.
