For 25 years baptismal prayers went awry; Thousands’ baptisms invalidated

The priest who misrepresented the baptismal prayer for 25 years has resigned. Andr അരs Arango, a priest in the Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona, has resigned following being accused of misrepresenting a baptismal prayer.
The ministry should begin by saying, ‘I baptize you.’ But the priest began by saying, ‘We baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’ He used the word ‘we’ instead of ‘I’.
According to the Catholic Church, only Jesus Christ has the authority to baptize. It is said that there is no community or church. The priest apologized and resigned following the church authorities discovered a serious error.
But believers say the resignation of the priest has not solved the problem. Believers are concerned regarding what to do with the invalidation of all baptisms that have been performed by the priest for 25 years. According to international media reports, church officials have demanded that those who have been baptized by Arango or who have baptized their children come forward voluntarily following the protests.
