For Benvenuto’s lawyer, “Lucas wants what happened to him not to happen to anyone else”

Javier Moral, Lucas Benvenuto’s lawyer until 2018 in other cases of abuse, referred to his client’s decision to make his complaint against television host Jey Mammon public after the court prescribed the case. The lawyer stressed that “sometimes the only way left to protect other children is to tell the truth elsewhere.”

“Sometimes, beyond the fact that I am a respectful of the rule of law, the only way left to protect other children is to tell the truth elsewhere and I hope Lucas’s truth will help,” Moral said in television statements to C5N.

“Lucas’s interest – he added – is that what happened to him does not happen to anyone else, in addition to closing that chapter of his life and not leaving any abuser without reporting those of whom he had been a victim.”

“Lucas was the engine for other complaints, in cases that showed that he was not lying and, in my opinion, there are no reasons not to believe this accusation,” said the legal advisor, who defended him in the cases involving the psychologist Jorge Corsi and music teacher Marcelo Rocca Clement.

On Wednesday, Benvenuto made public on his social networks that he suffered abuse by “a well-known Telefe driver”, whom he later identified as the one who was in charge of the channel’s Sunday program. In addition, he recounted that their relationship began when he was 14 years old and the defendant 32, in 2006, and that during the pandemic he realized that he had been a victim of abuse and filed a complaint with the Justice.

Benvenuto denounced Mammon in December 2020, but the case was closed in March 2021 and the defendant was dismissed because the investigating judge Walter Candela and the prosecutor Patricio Lugones considered that the statute of limitations had expired.

“We do not agree with this criterion because we understand that whenever there is a legal conflict between a child and an adult, the right that most benefits the child should be prioritized, tied to the criterion of upholding the rights of the minor,” said Moral. “Sometimes – he added – the cases are closed as if they were numbers, there is an abusive exercise of cutting and pasting, of referring to antecedents and situations that are not analogous,” he later added.

Asked about the release of Mammon on his social networks where, among other things, he said that the complaint was a “false episode in a large part of its content” and highlighted having “suffered extortive behavior by the person who promoted a complaint that justice dismissed and closed.” Moral highlighted: “In the first paragraphs he says that not everything Lucas says is true, with which there is a part that is.”

“He is acknowledging that some of what Lucas says is true and, on the other hand, Lucas is not aware of having received a complaint for extortion as he is accused of,” the lawyer closed.

Yesterday, it was learned that Telefe agreed with Jey Mammon to temporarily suspend his continuity as a conductor of Morfi’s Rock granting him “the time he deems necessary to order situations of a personal nature,” said a press release from the channel.
