Mueller, Britain’s largest dairy distributor, has recalled six Cadbury chocolates over concerns they contain listeria bacteria.

According to the British “Sky News” network, people who bought certain products from these sweets were warned not to eat them, and instead to return them to get their money back.

The warning was issued by the British Food Standards Agency (FSA).

She added that the validity date for the withdrawn types is May 17 for “Crunchie” and “Flake”, and May 18 for the rest of the sweets.

Mueller supplies hundreds of stores with products in Britain and a number of European countries, such as Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria and Croatia.

What is listeria?

• Listeria is a bacterial genus that includes several types that are transmitted by food, and poses a danger, especially to pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. This infection is common in unpasteurized milk products.

• According to the “Mayo Clinic” website, healthy people are not affected by this infection, but the aforementioned groups may be at great risk.

• Symptoms of infection include fever, chills, muscle pain, nausea and diarrhea.

• If Listeria spreads to the nervous system, symptoms may turn into headaches, a stiff neck, confusion, or changes in attention, loss of balance, and convulsions.
