The Flemish Minister of Energy, Zuhal Demir, showered Tuesday the ambitions put on the consultation committee of Wednesday which will be devoted to the price of energy. “Refusing a consultation would be rude but what will it lead to?” she said on Tuesday on the sidelines of a press conference in Limburg.
According to Minister N-VA, Flanders does not need this meeting to take decisions within the framework of its competences. “It would be very curious if we only got to work today. Since the beginning of the year, we have been making decisions. We have done our duty with more than a billion euros to help people renovate and consume less energy“, she asserted.
“Each government must decide for itself and do what is necessary rather than endlessly talking and organizing shows. Flanders does it, two other levels don’t“, she added, targeting the federal level and Europe. The federal because it should prolong nuclear power plants for at least 20 years, she believes, and Europe because it has the tools in its hands to bring down the price of CO2 by issuing additional emission rights.
