For her commitment to the peasantry: Hedwig Lindorfer is an economic advisor

Hedwig Lindorfer, the former chairwoman of the Farmers’ Advisory Council, was awarded the professional title of economist for her work. Due to her special achievements for agriculture and especially for the farmers in the Rohrbach district, she was awarded this great recognition by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Agriculture Minister Norbert Totschnig.

Together with her husband Hubert Lindorfer, she runs an organic farm in Niederwaldkirchen with a focus on dairy farming and organic grain cultivation.

She worked as an official in the Chamber of Agriculture for 15 years, as chairwoman of the farmers’ advisory board in the Rohrbach district for twelve years and as a substitute member as a councilor in the general assembly of the Chamber of Agriculture for six years.

Education and sustainability

Her particular focus of work included representing the interests of farmers, including educational and advisory work, as well as promoting healthy nutrition and food safety, promoting quality seal production and labeling of origin, as well as direct marketing and promoting combinations of employment in companies. She was active at gourmet festivals, farmers’ and weekly markets as well as shop projects with the Rohrbach warehouse cooperative. Their work was characterized by public relations work and the promotion of agricultural school and vocational training, including master craftsman training. She was also actively involved in seminars herself. With many events, she promoted community care, cross-generational collaboration and contact between farmers and consumers. Strengthening the recognition and appreciation of high-quality, regionally produced and farm-raised food was particularly important to her.
