Anna Ermakova is a model, soon to be a “Let’s Dance” candidate and the daughter of Boris Becker. Despite her German father, the 22-year-old does not yet speak his mother tongue. Now she wants to change that.

“Everyone expects me to speak German because I look like my father,” said Ermakova sea RTL – still in English – in the “Let’s Dance” podcast with Martin Tietjen. “But if you think about it: someone has to teach you the language! And if there isn’t anyone there when you grow up and are young – how are you going to learn it there?”

Ermakova explained the problem with her roots: “I identify as German, Russian and Nigerian. That’s my cultural background. But I’ve never lived in any of those places.”

Anna Ermakova talks about the “broom closet affair”

Anna comes from Becker’s affair with Angela Ermakova, who has lived in London for decades and was once born in Moscow. Even when she was at school, Anna had to hide from paparazzi because of her father’s celebrity and the circumstances of her conception – the so-called “broom closet affair” is a favorite topic of the media. She built a wall around herself.

“You really want to belong somewhere but you can’t find your place. It’s so difficult and frustrating. A lot of people don’t necessarily understand it, it’s a really strange situation. I realize my family situation is strange.”

From February 17, Anna can be seen on RTL in the 16th season of the celebrity dance show “Let’s Dance”. (dpa/hau)
