For Lewis Hamilton, the 2022 F1 season is a “personality test”[F1-Gate.com]

F1 managing director Ross Brawn says the 2022 season will be a ‘personality test’ for Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton has just missed out on the final lap of the final race of 2021 to win his eighth F1 World Championship. And it soon became clear that revenge for an eighth title win in 2022 would be difficult with Mercedes’ troubled F1 car.

Lewis Hamilton currently holds the record for most F1 titles with Michael Schumacher. At the final race of the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi, Lewis Hamilton was effectively crowned champion for the eighth time, but with five laps to go his fortunes changed and Max Verstappen took his first title. did.

Max Verstappen looks poised to win the title again this year, but Lewis Hamilton’s chances of winning the 2022 season are in jeopardy.

F1 managing director and former Mercedes F1 boss Ross Brawn sees this year as a challenge for Lewis Hamilton but is confident in his resilience.

“Lewis is in the twilight of his career,” Brawn said in an interview with F1-insider.com.

“But that doesn’t mean it’s over yet. He’s putting in a lot of effort to get a car that can win again. This year is kind of a personality test for him.”

“Maybe my teammate George Russell was hungrier in the race as a result,” he said.

Ross Brawn still compares Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to Michael Schumacher, who once had a golden age at Ferrari.

Ross Brawn believes Lewis Hamilton can take a leadership role within the team and rebuild, much like Michael Schumacher once did.

“Lewis will come back, I’m sure,” said Brawn.

“It’s the same with Mercedes. I believe that these periods of weakness that we have to overcome will make us stronger. I know that from my own experience.”

Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he was initially disillusioned with F1 due to the circumstances of his 2021 defeat but is still aiming for his eighth title.

“There’s nothing left between Max and me,” insists Lewis Hamilton.

“Max did his duty last year and I have no problems with him.”

“We’ve had a lot of years together and maybe we didn’t respect each other outside the car, but I don’t have any hard feelings.”

“It’s not an obsession, but it’s certainly at the center of my thoughts,” said Lewis Hamilton of his record eighth F1 title.

“It is at the top of the pyramid and the work that has been done on this year’s basis is to be at the top again.”
