Ouahigouya: For security reasons, Assumption 2022 was celebrated in the cathedral
Ouahigouya, August 15, 2022 (AIB)- The commemoration of the feast of the Assumption 2022 took place this Monday, in the enclosure of the cathedral church Christ King of the Universe of Ouahigouya and not on the Marian hill of Saye as usual for security reasons.
The sons and daughters of the Family of God Church of Ouahigouya commemorated the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary this day Monday, August 15, 2022.
The celebration presided over by Mgr Justin Kientéga, Bishop of the Diocese of Ouahigouya was attended by the faithful of the parishes of the Deliverance and of Christ the King of the Universe.
Initially planned as every year to be held on the Marian hill of Saye located in the near suburbs of the city of Naaba Kango, for security reasons, the celebration took place in the enclosure of the cathedral church Christ Roi de l Universe of Ouahigouya.
The faithful in an unshakeable faith were able in union of prayers to give thanks to God for this mystery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary celebrated by the Catholic Church since 1950 on the proclamation of Pope Pius XII.
It is in joy and hope that the leaders and the faithful implored God for the salvation of the world, peace, rediscovered security and victory over the powers of death in Burkina Faso.
“No more weeping or tears, may the Lord listen to our supplications, our fervent prayers so that glory may be returned to him, to his son, to the Holy Spirit and to whom Mary receives communion. May God hear and grant,” Father Bishop Justin Kientéga wished in firm hope at the end of his homily.
Throughout the celebration, the faithful prayed for our Defense and Security Forces, the displaced, the populations affected by the security situation, the decision-makers, for all the women of the world.
Thanks to this Feast of the Assumption, the Family Church of God in Ouahigouya grew with children who were baptized by Bishop Justin Kientéga.
