The major clubs in Europe spent during the summer transfers of 2022 more than 4.995 billion euros on bringing players, and the English Premier League topped the list, according to a report from the newspaper “”mark” Spanish.

English clubs topped the list of spending, spending 1.8 billion euros, followed by Italy with 497 million euros, Spain with 477 million euros, France with 468 million euros, and Germany with 458 million euros.

In terms of transfer fees received, France tops that list with 616 million euros, followed by Germany with 558 million euros and Italy with 490 million euros, followed by England with 473 million euros, then Portugal with 467 million euros and Spain with 411 million euros.

The summer transfer market witnessed intense English activity, as Manchester City signed the Norwegian star Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool decided to risk financially in the market by spending 100 million euros in order to include the Uruguayan Darwin Nunes from Benfica, before following in his footsteps, his rival Manchester United. By signing the Brazilian winger Anthony from Ajax Amsterdam on a contract until 2027, with the option to extend for an additional year.

Chelsea was one of the most spending clubs this summer, after it included Raheem Sterling and Senegalese Kalidou Coulibaly, and after them the French Wesley Fofana, who became one of the most expensive defenders in history (more than 82 million euros).
