Al-Marsad Newspaper: Ahmed Helmy, the air host of the Egyptian presidential plane during the period of the late President Muhammad Anwar Sadat, and following him the late President Hosni Mubarak, revealed exciting secrets for the first time.
He indicated that he witnessed two Iranian attempts to engage the Egyptian Air Force One in the air. According to “Sada El Balad”.
He said, “We were on a trip with Hosni Mubarak to a country in Asia, and while we were flying over the Gulf, we were informed that there was a technical malfunction in the plane and a fuel leak.”
And he continued, “At that time, news came to President Mubarak from King Fahd that the Egyptian presidential plane was going to be targeted in the field, so as soon as we reached the Saudi field, the Saudi planes took us in corridors far from civil planes until we crossed the Iranian range.”
He added: “On another trip to Bahrain, Iranian warplanes came out, flying alongside the presidential plane in the sky as a matter of skirmishes, so the plane’s captain tried to communicate with the control tower and tell him that there is an Iranian plane entering the same air corridor in which we are flying, and the tower did not respond and remained silent.” The pilot is trying to make it through safely.”
