Ford today introduces the new all-electric Explorer, a bold model that blends German engineering with striking American styling.
The Explorer is the first in a whole series of cutting-edge new electric vehicles from Ford, and marks the path to the complete reinvention of the Ford brand in Europe. Seating five across two rows, this midsize crossover is fully equipped to take families on the roads of adventure.
Designed and built in Germany, the 100-percent electric Explorer delivers an exceptional digital experience, helping drivers and passengers stay connected and comfortable on the go.
Its features include a large SYNC Move mobile touch screen and a fully connected and interior-adapted infotainment system with audio, with wireless application integration and advanced driver assistance technologies.
An adventure-ready design and a storage capacity of around 470 liters with all seats up, make Ford’s new electric vehicle the ideal choice for exploring the city and beyond.
The 17-litre console located between the driver and passenger seats can accommodate a 15-inch laptop. All this, added to a private compartment and hands-free access to the boot, makes Ford’s all-electric Explorer setting new standards.
Its futuristic exterior styling is combined with an ultra-modern interior that includes premium materials and unique details, such as slim sports seats and a sophisticated sound bar more typical of revolutionary concept cars than family vehicles.
All of this is topped off with fast charging capacity from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes and access, by next year, to 500,000 charging points across Europe.

Sleek, smart and ready for road travel
Leading Ford’s electric vehicle offensive, the new all-electric Explorer is the company’s first electric vehicle built at scale at Ford’s new EV Center in Cologne, Germany. Ford of Europe has committed to offering a range of fully electric passenger cars by 2030.
Its streamlined exterior captures the spirit and style of Ford’s iconic American SUV for a new electric age, further defined by the bold ‘shield’ design in place of a traditional grille.
Explorer’s SYNC Move infotainment system not only keeps occupants connected, it also incorporates a movable 15-inch touchscreen that smoothly slides up and down to accommodate the driver, while hiding a space Private storage for valuables.
It comes standard with a compartment for two large smartphones with wireless charger; SYNC Move offers wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Charging can be quick and easy, whether on the go or at home. The Explorer is able to help locate the most convenient stops on the highway. Home charging can be programmed to use electricity at off-peak times, as well as enjoying a fully charged battery and a warm cabin before setting off in the early hours of the morning.
Available with all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, Explorer also offers a number of features designed to ensure that driver and passengers feel equally refreshed and relaxed upon departure and arrival at their destination.
To increase comfort, standard equipment includes heated front seats and steering wheel, a massage driver’s seat, and climate control, allowing the driver and front passenger to select the temperature separately.
Even getting into the crossover is easy thanks to standard keyless entry and a hands-free tailgate, which allows owners to access the trunk even with their arms full of sports equipment with a simple movement of their foot under the rear bumper.
Advanced driver assistance systems include, for the first time in a Ford in Europe, Lane Change Assist for smooth and safe lane changes at the flick of a turn signal lever, and Clear Exit Assist, which warns of cyclists approaching before opening the doors in busy urban centers.
