Ford strikes vital deal with Testa for access to more than 12,000 superchargers

Ford said it has reached an agreement with Tesla Motors that will provide Ford and Tesla electric vehicle customers in the US and Canada with a doubling of the number of fast chargers available to Ford EV customers starting in the spring of 2024.

“This is great news for our customers who will have unprecedented access to the largest network of fast chargers in the US and Canada with more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers plus more than 10,000 fast chargers already in the pipeline. “Widespread access to fast charging is absolutely vital to our growth as an electric vehicle brand, and this groundbreaking agreement comes as we are ramping up production of our popular Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, and preparing to launch a series of of the next -generation of electric vehicles from 2025”.

Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla’s senior director of charging infrastructure, added: “We have spent the last 10 years building an industry-leading charging network that enables the freedom to travel and provides charging confidence for our Tesla owners.

We are excited to fulfill our mission to accelerate the global transition to sustainable energy by welcoming Ford and other electric vehicle owners who adopt NACS to our thousands of Superchargers in North America.”

A Tesla-developed adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit vehicles equipped with the Combined Charging System (CCS) port access to Tesla’s V3 Superchargers.

Ford will equip future electric vehicles with the NACS charging port, eliminating the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla superchargers, starting in 2025.

“Tesla has led the industry in creating a large, reliable and efficient charging system and we are pleased to be able to join forces in a way that benefits customers and the general adoption of electric vehicles,” said Marin Gjaja, director of customer service. Ford Model e customer.

BlueOval Charge Network is already the largest public charging network in North America with more than 84,000 chargers, including access to more than 10,000 public DC fast chargers.

Adding more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers creates the largest integrated fast-charging network in the US and Canada, designed to significantly reduce charging anxiety for Ford customers, with automatic routing to the nearest charger and hassle-free billing to through Ford Pass.

Additionally, Ford dealers will add approximately 1,800 fast-charging points and public locations to the BlueOval charging network by early 2024.
