A small-scale forest fire broke out in the breast wall forest area in Weißenbach near Strobl on Wednesday. A Red Cross employee was able to see clouds of smoke and informed the emergency services. The Strobl and Koppl fire brigades and the police helicopter carried out the extinguishing work. The fire was brought under control following an hour.
A total of 50 firefighters, three paramedics, the police helicopter “Libelle” with three police officers, the district fire investigator and three other police forces were deployed. According to initial findings, a lightning strike in the morning is likely to be responsible for the outbreak of the fire.
