Former ASML employee may have sold chip machine secrets to Huawei

According to information collected by a Dutch newspaper, a former ASML employee may have sold the company’s trade secrets to Huawei.

This is because he started working at the Chinese company in 2022 and took a series of confidential data from the company, something that it itself classified as “unauthorized diversion” in its 2022 annual report.

The man’s identity is kept secret, but ASML CEO Peter Wennink classified the incident as relevant, even if only a “small” part of the technology was supplied to the Chinese company.
